ACU Partners with Community Health Vote!

Community Health Vote

The Association of Clinicians for the Underserved (ACU) has joined a partnership with Community Health Vote to promote and assist safety net providers and community organizations in developing non-partisan voter engagement programs. In an effort to involve as many of the 1,200 Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC’s) as possible, Community Health Vote has focused its Get-Out-the-Vote efforts and nonpartisan voter registration on the nearly 22.5 million FQHC patients.

The implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) will bring millions of Americans into health centers and other primary care organizations. This offers a unique opportunity to integrate voter registration into health insurance and Medicaid enrollment services. Many health centers and other agencies already offer ongoing non-partisan voter registration assistance as part of their Medicaid and WIC application and renewal process to comply with the National Voter Registration Act.

Community Health Vote supports health centers in establishing nonpartisan voter registration as one of the services they provide to their patients and communities on an ongoing basis. By making voter registration readily accessible and convenient for patients, health centers offer a pathway to become more informed and civically engaged towards our mission of improving the health of our patients and local communities.
