State Honor Roll 2013, the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA). The report is an annual look at how states compare on 18 core policy issues that affect kids and adults with asthma and allergies while they spend the day learning or working in America’s schools. It shows that most states still don’t have core policies in place to protect kids and adults in schools nationwide.

CDC National Health Interview Survey (NHIS): 2008 Lifetime and Current Asthma Data, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 2008: This survey compares lifetime and current asthma statistics from 2008.

CDC Current Asthma Prevalence-United States, 2006-2008, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC): This resource gives a brief summary and table on asthma prevalence of children and adults in the United States from 2006-2008. CDC asthma statistics are also available in Spanish.

Ethnic Disparities in the Burden and Treatment of Asthma, Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America and the National Pharmaceutical Council, 2005: Discusses disparities in asthma, gives possible reasons for these disparities, and suggests ways that they can be reduced.

Asthma Control: Home-Based Multi-Trigger, Multicomponent Environmental Interventions, Community Preventive Services Task Force, 2008:  Discusses the effectiveness of home-based interventions with an environmental focus for persons with asthma on reducing exposure to multiple indoor asthma triggers (allergens and irritants).

Clearing the Air: Asthma and Indoor Air Exposures, Committee on the Assessment of Asthma and Indoor Air, Division of Health Promotion and Disease Prevention, and Institute of Medicine, 2000: This book examines how indoor pollutants contribute to asthma– its causation, prevalence, triggering, and severity. It identifies priorities for public health policy, public education outreach, preventive intervention, and further research.

The Burden of Asthma on Hispanics, Disparities in Lung Series, The American Lung Association, 2011: This report presents an overview of research into the complex biological, environmental, political and cultural factors that increase the burden of asthma on Hispanics. It is available in both English and Spanish.
