ACU Welcomes New Executive Director Amanda Pears Kelly

It is with great pleasure that the ACU Board of Directors announces the appointment of Amanda Pears Kelly as our new Executive Director. Effective February 12 th , 2020 Amanda will take the helm of ACU,
succeeding Craig Kennedy in leading a dynamic and dedicated staff.

President of the ACU Board, Felix Nuñez says: “We are so very excited about the opportunity to welcome Amanda to our ACU familia. Amanda is a visionary leader with a wealth of experience and insights in the area of health care services for the underserved. Without a doubt she will continue to build on ACU’s legacy of increasing access to health care services in our nation’s most vulnerable and underserved communities.”

Amanda comes to ACU from the American Diabetes Association where she served as Vice-President of Grassroots and Internal Advocacy, implementing new advocacy initiatives on the local, state and national levels. Prior to that she was the Director of National Advocacy and Civic Engagement for the National Association of Community Health Centers leading advocacy efforts on behalf of 1,400 health centers across the nation.

Amanda has a long-standing commitment to social justice and working to make healthcare accessible for everyone in America. That commitment, her education and experience in the field of health policy and advocacy (B.A., Political Science University of New Hampshire), along with her training in nonprofit management and leadership at Boston University makes her a natural fit for ACU at a particularly challenging time of ongoing debate and discussion concerning the direction of national health care reform.

Please join ACU’s board, membership and staff in welcoming Amanda as our new Executive Director.
